Republicans have always played on xenophobia and racism, and their base is swallowing this up - see the wide support on Fox News comments, etc.

I don't know if this law will pass, but you know what they say - never interrupt your opponents while they're making a mistake.

This is a great opportunity for Chinese universities to reclaim lost talent, and for the CCP to galvanize public support for the "all of society" struggle vs. America. Hardcore Chinese liberals won't be silenced - they'll blame Trump / conservatives for it - but the wider public will learn a lesson around "Western tolerance." It will help domestic Chinese companies crush the remaining market share of American companies in China, once the Chinese government exploits it for propaganda.

Hopefully this contributes further to China's de-Westernization, especially among Chinese women who tend to become brain washed when they are educated in the West.

As far as China and Xizang are concerned, the solution is very simple. The 15th Dalai Lama will be selected from the golden urn. No one else matters.

Let India and the US appoint their own Dalai Lama. Let them bicker over chooses the Dalai Lama and who holds the leash. Let them market their Dalai Lama(s), because it ultimately doesn't matter to the people of Xizang. They already have their true Dalai Lama.

Ultimately the true Dalai Lama in Xizang will be followed by millions of real Tibetans. While the fake ones out there would only be followed by the much smaller Tibetan diaspora, and the hordes of gullible foreigners.

Defunding education to ensure social stability works, until it does not. Now people tear down the structures and institutions their ancestors built not out of malice, but sheer ignorance.

Noises like that occurred once in a while. It will never materializes. It is as simple calculation as 1+1. Without "Chinese students", there would have been a totally different tech industry in general and silicon valley in particular. It might be technically feasible 30 or 40 years. Now? CeeCeePee would send them a gold metal of 100 metric tons.
