The additional 10% (so 20% total) US tariffs on China just kicked in.

China retaliated immediately.

- 10-15% tariffs on agricultural products
- ban on export of dual use items to 15 US companies, including Skydio
- addition of 11 companies to the unreliable entities list, preventing them from doing business in China

Let's see where this goes.

13. Recover from 10 years of political turmoil and struggles
14. Retain State control of the economy whilst simultaneously opening and reforming your economy
15. Survive the fall of other Socialist states
16. Eradicate religious cults
17. Withstand the humiliation of having your tanker seized, your embassy bombed, and your warplane rammed
18. Seize the opportunity to further develop your economy and modernise your military as the global hegemon gets bogged down inside the Graveyard of Empires
19. Make heavy investment in infrastructure whilst gently deflating the housing bubble

That's just on top of my head. Each point is worth of a library in its own right. India might have done points 2 and 3 (if you count the wars with Pakistan as civil wars) but they are still stuck on land-reform and industrialisation, let alone public education and healthcare.

Classic situation of people complaining that the rich owner seems to just to sit there doing nothing while making passive income by the tens of billions, but they didn't see all the work he did starting up the company from scratch.

Really not a fan. That wasn't clever. Why not retort something like, "Funny, that's how the global south sees Western power."
