Budgets are Congress. Trump can whine all he wants but Congress could force A-10 or whatever other pork garbage they want down Trump's throat if they want to

I really doubt that the Armed Services committees in both Senate and House would accept Trump shenanigans. Talking about lot of money here (lobbying, MIC, districts etc)

There is bipartisan consensus on this . matter

But Trump being Trump, he will not back down easily if he has reasons, legit or not, to demand the budget cut.

I think you underestimate Trump's control over the Republican party. I have witnessed his total dominance on the ground for a few years now. Some mere threat of mid-term election would keep almost all Republican senators or congressmen in line. What Musk and DOGE has been doing is actually killing off the Democratic party. I am fairly certain that Dems would suffer a bloodbath in the next mid-term election. All in all, if Trump really wanted it that way, all his major initiatives would be passed by both houses. This time, Trump has truly got an electoral mandate from the American public, which his predecessors did not have, probably except for Clinton 1996 re-election. The political game is over for Dems in the foreseeable future.
