Its funny. The west keeps saying China is wrong for letting it's government fund all these things and that the private market should take care of it.

Yet we see with USAID there are so many things funded by the US government on taxpayer money. All those pro Ukraine news or anti China orgs? All government funded. And they have the nerve to lecture China. At least China doesn't hide it.

Btw the idea that the China government doesn't know how to do stuff the free market way is simply westoid ignorance. For example many government investment funds use a free market approach when deciding what startups or companies to fund. Why? Because funding dogcrap simply based on government connections rather than results (esp in stuff like semiconductors or ai chips) isn't gonna help the country is it? If anything it shows China is actually better at knowing what works in the free market as we have seen the US government fund tons of crap (probably due to Nepo babies) which never got anywhere and just wastes taxpayers money.

They are for government funding alright, just not the Chinese government.

Think about all of this logically from the Saudi perspective; no one sane in the entire world can now trust anything that Trump himself promises, not to mention some future new administrations that change every 4 years in the US that is under increasing rates of decline in all areas.

Why the hell would they accept any 'normalization' deals with Israel even if the US can theoretically offer something? And I don't think they can offer anything substantial right now for the record. They can't fix their own rotting 100-year-old infrastructure for example inside the US.

Maybe they can offer: yeah, we will bomb you and your oilfields if you don't comply with the US, and then Saudis can simply counter-offer 'bomb' their entire financial system in return and join BRICS and China fully. Not to mention, that all of this is not even considering what they might lose from this pointless 'deal' - domestic legitimacy, external legitimacy in the Arab and Muslim world, due to anti-Zionist sentiments.

Think logically from Saudi perspective. they need such a power that sucks human capital from Europe. As i mentioned previously normalization is a process. The soft power related issues are too complex and impolite to write about it.

The US seems to try to kill off brands that are obvious "Chinese" that become popular with the mainstream in the US so the population has a negative view of China. I think China should also eliminate US branding and softpower as well from their market. Alot of the mainland Chinese boba libs are from all this consumption of hollywood, friends, western brands/music etc.

If she had a normal job, she might actually be a nice person. It's just that she was limited by ability and wouldn't have made it in normal industry, so ended up becoming a nepo hire at a government funded think tank in order to hold a role somewhat commensurate with her level of study.

What I don't understand is why someone of asian origin would even join the military of a nation hostile to us. Like, I'm sure the thought would have popped up in their heads many times before and during service, but do they just press X to ignore?

Because they're CHRISTIAN CONVERTS ala Jeremy "super Christian" Lin. Which is why regardless of how much discrimination they have received and racism in their lives they all chalked up those lived experience as part of carrying the cross or burden of Christians just as the Messiah who died for the sins of the world have done for them.

It's irrationally rational from a theological perspective and since most Christians aim are to cultivate and foster Christian living to be able the enter the kingdom of God (works and faith) their sufferings are nothing but a blessing in disguise
