Can see why he wasn't terribly interested given Trump gave him a 'cleaner' role that would certainly make him a lot of political enemies. He wanted to have a real seat at the table, a chip and a chair to play the political long game. Problem is, he was always used by Trump as a tool at advertising diversity and inclusion, never to be granted entry into the true MAGA base. Would be interesting if the running for governor of Ohio is real, given he essentially is rebuffing a task directly delegated by Trump.
