China gets 4 out of the top 10. The US only has one, but it's the leader. I count SGMW as essentially Chinese now. Very surprised to see Vinfast in the top 30. And it seems like the Turkish Togg is still hanging on.

I suspect China would dominate the top 10 list more if we finally got the EV industry consolidation we were all waiting for, but it seems we are not there yet.
Pointless to analyze the graph because China doesn't just dominates in BEV but plugin hybrid too.

Interesting, didn't realize the Shark was already shipping so I looked it up
Indeed there are Mexican dual nationals driving these cross-border

Rivian looks nice, but it is really expensive and they are losing money on every truck, so I don't expect the price to come down. They are not able to sell enough to justify scaling up production either, basically cooked. I will see after VW buys their remains.

The scaling is never going to come now that every battery factory plan in the West is being scaled back.
yes, there are a quite videos of Americans evaluating Mexican BYD sharks.

NEV HDTs continue to grow. At this rate, we are going to get to like 30 to 40% NEV HDTs by next year. They really should come out with subsidies for this. That can save so much in import bills for crude oil.

I always found it funny how Americans go to length to separate out BEV from PHEV so Tesla can look better than BYD, but never ask how many batteries in Tesla's BEVs are from China, including from BYD.

That's 2023's report.

LFP batteries are getting close to the densities NCM batteries used to have. That is enough for most applications. I think it will be LFP on the low end and solid-state on the high end. NCM will be dead.

Even if it still had the highest density, which it won't, NCM is much more unsafe and that means I think it will be banned eventually.

China spent a lot of money getting those nickel and cobalt mining facilities in Indonesia, but it turns out they won't even be all that necessary in the long term.

not too surprising, but the European great hope in battery is Gonzo.

This along with news about Germany rejecting visa on some CATL and Gotion employees lead to one thing. Europeans are looking to get knowledge from Chinese battery makers.
Quebec government sounding like state propaganda department
EVERYTHING IS FINE AND WILL BE GOING FORWARD ACCORDING TO PLAN

No tech, no customers, what will they be building and for who?

The interesting thing is that LFP is winning from reasons that were missed by many. Companies were so concentrated on the chemistry, so the physical/mechanical/industrial side were totally overlooked.

SSB is still quite a ways away, so the Indonesian mines will still be useful.
