The U.S. economy being better than it ever has been before doesn’t preclude many people doing poorly and/or expectations/desires expanding faster than economic growth. The random jumpiness from obscure survey data to other obscure survey data to prove America is actually collapsing^TM is certainly not it.
China generally not being on the technological frontier (but the U.S. generally being on the technological frontier? and poorer than the United States might as well be tautological for now.
