Why is it so important that the US get China on board with this? Not many Chinese companies the US can tax since they try to prevent them from operating in the US in the first place. Are they going with the lie that China makes all the profits from outsourced products that American companies send to China? Just imagine all the iPhones sold around the world that the US will tax China for and not Apple...

US wants to prevent its corporations place all the profits in tax havens so it can collect at least 15% of taxes.

I think almost all Chinese dynasties fell because they were not able to collect enough taxes.

He is forgetting way more than that. He is really underestimating Chinese tactics, like China using water cannons or ramming or aggressive jets because allows China to increase the heat on the enemy but at the same time it puts the responsibility of escalation on the enemy too. Another issue is that he is advocating for the Ukranization of a conflict, that would be absolutely devastating for the people of that island, that will destroy their way of life and their economy for decades to come. That best thing that could happen to the Taiwanese in the case of conflict, obviously, is that any conflict get resolved quickly no matter the outcome and they can continue with their lives as soon as possible.
