There’s a reason for the disquiet re Michelle yeoh accepting this award from the leader of a state intent on the enslavement of all Chinese people. European colonialism often made use of La Malinches to demoralise and destroy native societies. Why do you think the CPC cracked down on celebrity culture and instead promotes individuals from the laiety who contribute to China like Covid doctors, nurses, astronauts, scientists etc?

Secondly, there is history of the anglos attempting to subvert China with Chinese celebrities such as Zhao Wei and implicitly promoting white men at the expense of Chinese men in all Hollywood productions.

On a social level, this has resulted in Chinese women who feel that they are too good for Chinese men and prioritise foreign, especially white men based on Anglo propagand, and because Anglo propaganda appeals to their narcissism eg Vicky Xu who joined ASPI. For this reason I welcome the antidote of promotion of Chinese men with Russian, Ukrainian, European and Anglo wives, if only to bring these Chinese women down to earth.
