They want China to force Russia to accept a ceasefire agreement where the conflict is frozen with the condition that Ukraine officially joins NATO. Ukraine is losing no matter what. The election is coming. They can’t afford to have the gas station humiliate the entirely of NATO. It is the only reason why the Europeans and Americans are all of a sudden going to China. Except the modern western diplomacy is to threaten the other side until they give in to all their demands.

There is no benefits for any country to have those bases, what "security" is offering when Houthis routinely humiliate them?

It'll be interesting to see how France responds to these Russian (and somewhat Chinese) inroads into the "Francafrique", as these are the areas dominated by the French, who have much more influence than the Americans. Unlike USA who has global influence and exploitation, the French are mostly limited to this area of Africa which keeps their economy afloat.

Currently, the US congress has an approval rating of 15% or so. I'm wondering if they are really so ideologically driven to win a new cold war against China and Russia, or they just want to get kickbacks from such a pork-laden and corruption prone bill.
