China escalates EU trade spat with probe into French brandy imports​

Investigation comes four months after Brussels complained of flood of Chinese electric cars

China has launched a new investigation into French brandy imports, escalating a trade spat between Beijing and Brussels.

Officials at the commerce ministry said its anti-dumping probe into brandy imported from the European Union followed complaints from the domestic brandy industry.

China imported alcoholic drinks worth about $4.5bn in 2022, according to Daxue Consulting, a China-based market research group.

Brandy was the most-imported spirit, consisting almost entirely of French products

The middle east lies in the continent of Asia... Through imo it's a meaningless distinction, as Asia is less of a continent a more of a supercontinent with several radically different cultures and populations, similar to talking about "the Americas".

Jesus was a middle easterner, born in the levant. The descendants of his relatives would be similar types of people as those you find in Palestine and Syria.

Well, that didn't take long. China dodged a bullet on this one. US would be all over the Chinese planes in Argentina

Also checked the Argentinian subreddit, they are very happy that they chose the F-16.

I hope it happens, the Argentine Armed Forces are conceptually Western and must buy weapons from the West, even with the eternal dispute we have with the UK we cannot afford to turn our backs on what we are, Westerners.

Argentina will buy F16 aircraft from the United States and leave China out​

In line with the new profile that Javier Milei's government took in its foreign policy, the Ministry of Defense defined in recent days that Argentina will move forward with the purchase of 24 American-made F-16 supersonic aircraft that are today in the hands of Denmark.

The political decision was made between the President and the Minister of Defense, Luis Petri, according to qualified sources from the Casa Rosada.

In this way, Argentina leaves behind the struggle that took place in recent years between the United States, China and India for the sale of these supersonic aircraft for the Air Force.

The completion of this purchase also defines a new geopolitical strategy for the country aligned with Washington and thus abandons Beijing, which opted until the end of Alberto Fernández's government to close this agreement of high military value in exchange for financial support through the extension of Swaps for the BCRA.
