I only see not Chinese members that are surprised. And a member thinks all fast foods is unhealthy and garbage. Not sure why you project so much about what others think.

Beside, McDonald in China is majority owned by Chinese conglomerate CITIC. Burger King is not top 3 anymore. Also, it doesn't really matter as more competition the better for consumers. Dicos, a Chinese fast food, is now owned by Taiwanese. Yonghe King another Chinese fast food has been bought by Philippines' Jollibee.

The fast rise of Chinese fast food chain such as Wallace and Tastien as less expensive alternatives would probably remake the landscape of fast food in China very soon. Old chains such as Country style cooking, Real kungfu and Home original chicken are actually under pressure. Just like hot pot chain Little Lamb which was bought by KFC is overtaken by Haidilao and Xiabu Xiabu.

Just don't be a fool and act arrogantly like Samsung and Nike. Companies should stay away from politics and not acting prideful and arrogant and disrespect the local market. KFC is successful because it adopts quickly.

They should store it in open-air artificial man-made reservoir for it to naturally vaporize to leave contaminates over time. If it is truly safe for drinking, they can even use this artificial reservoir as drinking water. Use it as Japanese drinking water for the public.

It's seawater to begin with, so can't be used for drinking or irrigation unless it's desalinated first.

After reading more about this, I'm still on the fence about the safety assessment.

IF they can treat the wastewater effectively as they plan to, then it's likely the best option I believe. But as many have voiced here, it's a big IF.

It's irradiated seawater that has been filtered for contaminants, which supposedly does not include sodium chloride (Salt), one of the most easiest contaminants to filter out give the large molecule size.

Their goal is to be as cheap as possible and avoid keeping it in Japan as drinking water (although allegedly meeting drinking water safety levels)

If the sea water has been filtered, the salt should have been removed (otherwise the radioactive particles would remain, no?).

Desalination is one of the steps in the treatment process, that the contaminated water was originally sea water is no excuse.
