Apple provides minimal value-add to the Chinese economy. If they are not willing to dramatically increase the volume and value share of its Chinese components, they will be eliminated

This isn’t true at all. Without Apple (or even lazier companies like HP that even outsourced design), China would not have been be able to create the production capacity at the scale and quality that it has. There’s no other country with so much machinery, operators, technicians, engineers, etc. BYD started out primarily making batteries for iPhones.

I suggest nuking Disneyland in Shanghai. I visited last week, okay fun, there is a lot of American propaganda there, and American branding that will not be missed.

American companies are good competition, don’t be afraid of the competition like American politicians. Shanghai Disneyland is like the entirety of everything the US propaganda accuses China of being afraid of actually thriving in China, Winnie the Pooh ride especially.

BYD monopolized the entire NiCad battery market in the early 2000s being over 60% of global production, before even iPod was an idea much less iPhone.

Bytedance is exploring scenarios for selling TikTok without algorithms. Bytedance's corp strategy department has been discussing internally plans to sell part of TikTok U.S. in case company loses legal battle. One potential is for Bytedance to sell 50%+ stake in the app's U.S. operations and retain a minority stake. Oracle and Microsoft have been ruled out internally as preferred buyers because Bytedance prefers the potential buyer to be less techy.
Actually, there are many foreign investors of TikTok. All of them will take a haircut if it's banned.

There is no way China will ever allow a sale of Tiktok.
Yes. Douyin can just bide its time and wait for the HarmonyOS to become a rival of iOS and Android, so TikTok can be widely available for downloading from it.

Yup. They didn't even bother to turn on the lights for him, with casual shoes to boost.

No surprise - they blame China for everything. All the content created by individual TikTok users = TikTok/China's fault:

South Korea's defense chief is clear-eyed.
‘We must say no’: Seoul defense chief on Korean, USFK involvement in hypothetical Taiwan crisis
If there’s one thing that Defense Minister Shin Won-sik perhaps deserves credit for having a steadfast position on, it’s saying no to Korea getting dragged into issues surrounding Taiwan

Important that it's also admit weekend at Stanford.
Admit Weekend is your opportunity to learn about life as a Stanford undergraduate through more than 140 events.
Can't have those protests, might scare off all those wealthy Jewish heirs.

TikTok accounts for a small share of ByteDance's total revenues and daily active users, so the parent would rather have the app shut down in the U.S. in a worst case scenario than sell it to a potential American buyer, they said.
A shutdown would have limited impact on ByteDance's business while the company would not have to give up its core algorithm, said the sources, who declined to be named as they were not authorised to speak to the media.

I don't think China is the one that wants to avoid fair competition.

South Korea's defense chief is clear-eyed.

China should prioritize nudging SK out of the US orbit. Part of that strategy should be offering SK a role in China dominated new and emerging industries.
