what a absolute beauty and what a giant it is

the tarmac is gleaming in the sunshine

it reminds me of the time years ago when JNCX had some demonstration modules which raised the question

Can China actually really even build a flat deck carrier ?

fast forward a decade the Chinese juggernaut can pump these out at a fast pace

CVN next please this time with 4 cats, with 2 from the waist

Guancha team did their livestream last night mostly about Fujian, you can rewatch it here:

I like the part where they were shit talking Navy Lookout for his sour-ness.

There's also a

exclusively on Fujian and PLAN carrier history on qingting, I'm still going through it at the moment. Yankee already revealed an interesting fact: the carrier version JL-10 isn't called JL-10J or JL-10H or anything like that, it actually has the rather weird name "教-15". The reason this thing hasn't shown up in Liaoning and Shandong is because their arresting wires are setup to handle J-15 exclusively and is too stiff for the smaller 教-15 (JL-15?). Fujian doesn't have this problem as its arresting wire resistance can be easily adjusted. There's no problem for 教-15 to take off from Liaoning and Shandong as it is.

You dont need tankers just for the carriers and unless you have a fully nuclear powered escort fleet, sustained cruise speeds or perceived advantages in that regard are somewhat theoretic. Of course a nuclear carrier can bunker fuel for the escort fleet (if they are gas turbine powered) and serve as AOR/E itself, but that approach has its own tradeoffs and limits, notably when it comes to how robust an escort fleet you need for what sort of operations.

Does this mean the arresting gear system on Fujian is similar to the one on Ford?

Comments under the PLAN official account's video on bilibili:

"I suddenly realized, that means the first aircraft to take off from domestic EMCAT CATOBAR carrier is a DJI"
PLAN:

"DJI: yes, I am in fact an carrier-based aircraft"
Is there actually proof that those pics are taken by a DJI launched from Fujian? It's not easy to take off any fly a quadrotor from a fast moving ship along with whatever wind condition there is on the sea.

Only the PLAN response, here's the link:

The video is credited as jointly produced between PLAN, PLA News Media Center and CCTV news.
From personal experience DJI can handle a lot of wind just fine, it just drains the battery much faster if the drone has to constantly struggle against wind.

I've long had the impression it's an electromagnetic system, I found this image from CCTV military channel from the launch ceremony:
v2-971527f6660419f642a2a51ca5db30b3_r.jpg
"equipped with electromagnetic launch and arresting system"

I suppose there's ambiguity here to argue the "electromagnetic" part is referring only to the launch and not arresting system, but then if Fujian uses the same arresting system as Liaoning and Shandong I question why it has to be mentioned here.
