China has greatly surpassed its Japanese and American counterparts in related patents. and occupies more than half of the global market.
Competition in China's electric vehicle sector is fierce, pushing lidar technology, the "eyes" of autonomous vehicles, to become more advanced.
According to statistics from Patent Result, a Japanese patent analysis company, since 2000, Chinese companies have submitted a total of 25,957 related patent applications, compared with 18,821 submitted by American companies and 13,939 submitted by Japanese companies.
Germany's Bosch has the most patent applications, followed by Japanese auto parts supplier Denso (DENSO). China's RoboSense and Hesai Technology ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Since 2015, the number of patents issued by these two Chinese companies has increased dramatically.

looks like 北京泽石科技 is investing a new chip packaging facility for producing 6 million SSD modules per year in first phase and then 6 million storage control chip in phase 2.

They developed and mass producing 28nm PCIe Gen control chip. Now developing PCIe Gen 5 chip, it's taped out.

I wonder what process node needs to be used here. Can 14nm be sufficient?

According to this, NIO and BYD are both moving toward using Half Bridge packaging for SiC (vs previously HPD packaging)

Half Bridge packaging reduces cost by 25% while also seeing 75% lower stray inductance, so should improve efficiency

power density increased by 28%

lifespan increased by 4x

Naura released HDP CVD for gap fill. There is going to be some competition between Piotech and Naura. Naura has been hiding its advances in advanced nodes, so this is somewhat a surprise

Yes, Piotech and Jiaxin Semiconductor( Wanye) are working in HDP CVD tools too but looks Naura is the first to the market.

This domestic company has received another order for its SiC equipment!

1704724275771.png

Noyan Capital, Shanghai Micro-Yun Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Micro-Yun Technology") has recently successfully obtained a batch order from a domestic silicon carbide foundry. Noyan Capital pointed out that this indicates that the silicon carbide etching equipment developed and produced by Micro-Yun Technology has basically met the needs of customers for mass production in terms of uniformity and consistency.

According to reports, Weiyun Technology was established in 2021 and is a semiconductor equipment manufacturer focusing on third-generation compound semiconductors. In February 2023, Weiyun Technology completed tens of millions of yuan in Series A financing, led by Noyan Capital and followed by Linxin Capital.

Weiyun Technology completed the research and development of ICP and CCP etching equipment in only two years, and obtained repeat orders. At present, the company has a relatively mature set of processes and equipment solutions for the etching of silicon, silicon carbide, silicon dioxide, silicon nitride, gallium arsenide, indium phosphide and other materials. It is expected to complete the research and development of atomic layer etching equipment for gallium nitride materials in the first quarter of 2024.

Memsonic is investing 3 billion RMB for its own product base in Wuhan, expecting to reach 10 wpm in production when completed. The main focus will be RF filters, but could cover other MEMS products

Memsonic has already attracted 800m RMB of investment funding. It's production already started in partnership with Sai Micro back in July, which produced 2k wpm right now and has lart customer orders. So this new plant, will augment that capacity
