Chinese OS and software ecosystem

I noticed I've been using OneDrive more and more recently because of its integration into Windows file system and MS office

Just wondering, are there any examples of such network effects in Chinese software industry?

From what I can tell, Chinese software is all really discrete and even for large companies like Tencent, they don't seem to bother crafting it into one all-in-one package that Google or Microsoft does.

Just wondering if I am mistaken, the reasons behind it or if this trend is going to change etc

Also, I feel like there could be more consolidation in certain areas. Imagine if all Chinese smartphones came with ~50GB of free cloud storage from the same cloud provider that seamlessly transfers data across devices like iCloud, that would greatly help in locking users to a "Chinese phone" ecosystem instead of just android ecosystem. Instead it seems like every company invests in their own cloud storage (which ends up sucking). That's still a pretty big problem with Androids nowadays. Changing your phone takes a full day of painstaking transfer which is why everyone wants to simplify things and move their stuff on to Google Photos instead

Pretty sure western companies don't do that anymore cause it would be illegal under anti-trust laws. Huawei only gives 5GB free cloud, I don't know any phone company that gives 50GB of free cloud storage on phones anymore.

Although not as big of an influence as they once were in the early 2000s in the Java/j2EE open source software world, the Eclipse Foundation is using OpenHarmony as the base of a open mobile operating system.

I was wondering what was happening with Oniro they have been quiet the last couple of years.

Edit: you can actually see the presentation slides if there are people interested in them

It's only illegal if they are abusing a dominant position. It's why Apple can still have the closed app store in the US as courts agree that the alternative is just using an Android phone (which has a big marketshare in itself). Of course EU courts do not agree.

China only recent passed similar laws. Chinese software companies used to block all kinds of interoperation between apps, and the courts have not been terribly consistent in the application of the Anti Monopoly Law (You can google it). I believe for a while the courts allowed all kinds of anti competitive behaviour (ie interfering with competitor's apps installed on a computer), then cracked down on some, but allowed others, then cracked down hard on all kinds of bundling. There's lots of literature on it.
