List your favorite Chinese food/dish here!

Mine, in order of preference:

  1. 小笼包 aka soup-filled buns, a Shanghai specialty
  2. Pekin Duck
  3. Xinjiang Lamb skewers
  4. 生煎包 - pan-fried buns, another Shanghai specialty
  5. 松鼠桂鱼 - "squirrel" fish (does not actually contain any squirrel)
  6. 尖椒肥肠 - stir-fry of green chili and pig intestine
  7. 红烧肉 - red-braised pork, prepared my own way!
  8. Spring Rolls - only the kind with pork strips and yellow garlic chives (and prepared by my mom); I go through dozens of these on Chinese New Year...

Not in any particular order, but they're my favorite:

1. Peking Duck
2. Chow mein 炒麵
3. Char siu 叉燒 - Chinese barbecued pork
4. Dim sum 點心 - I can eat this almost every day
5. Beef chow fun 乾炒牛河
6.Chongqing spicy deep-fried chicken 重庆辣子雞
7.Zongzi 粽子 - I like to eat them on holidays
8. Youtiao 油條 - strips of deep fried dough - love this stuff as a kid and still do today

Ice cream. Seriously someone told me the Chinese invented it.

I enjoy the side dish made from the by products of Peking duck.

I think the direct English translation is 'lettuce wraps'

Have any of you guys heard of Fusion food.? Its where Asian and Western food are blended together and served up in a western style format.

红烧肉 is definitely on the top of my list!

And anything spicy! I had this dish, of which I don't know of the name, at a place called "King of Sichuan" on West Park in Houston. It's absolutely delicious! It's a whole pork shoulder roasted with all kinds of spices and chilli. Amazing. Too bad the place is now closed...

Talking about cooking pork, I have my own secret 12-spice rub for BBQ ribs and pork shoulders :p:p:p I might get a pork shoulder on my way back home tonight. Man! 12 hours at 190oF later, you cannot believe how delicious it is!

Man, that sounds good!

However, I notice that this thread is a little heavy on the meat side. Any vegetarian dishes you guys like?

I like the following:

- Ma-Po Tofu
- Yu-xiang eggplants
- almost any dish with bamboo shoots
- fresh luffa and soy beans
- garlic chives (韭菜) - we grow these in our yard, grows like a weed!
