It is interesting that even by now, there is no clear top view of this bird with a clear view of what the cockpit looks like. Some side action from a distance is all we have seen so far.

This is a very camera shy bird!!!!

I’ve heard from a source that unfortunately I cannot disclose (not to get them in trouble) that induction for this bird is going to be a lot earlier than even the PLAAF optimists have anticipated. #NancyPelosi thank you for the stunt!

Nope. The fact that the U.S. government had so little control over the officials made decision makers in the PRC realize that a potential flashpoint over Taiwan is highly likely. It prompted redirection of efforts into the Chinese MIC and double down on quality/quantity of RnD and acquisitions.

I don't know, I just can't imagine them getting this plane in service before 2030 at least. The timeline is just too tight even if this design is perhaps a bit less ambitious than 3 engine J-36. No matter how much resources you pour in, development and testing takes time, especially for a design like flying wing fighter which is new. The statement of "a lot earlier than even the PLAAF optimists have anticipated" is kind of up in the air but I assume it only refers to serious PLAAF watchers and not random people on the internet thinking that first flight = introduction in a few weeks or something. So really it could just mean this is going to be a 2030 thing rather than a 2035 thing.

They could do that by leveraging existing tech as much as possible. Initial version could be built around WS-15 TVC engines, GaN or GaNS AESA radar based on that on J-35 or J-20A/S but with more TRMs, same as the EOTS, avionics, PL-16 AAMs etc. Of course they'll try to implement as much 6th gen tech as is available such as AI for CCA capability and other features.

The general expectation is enter service by 2030, so "earlier than optimists" can only be earlier than 2030, and significantly so. That implies the aircraft is very satisfactory, and they are basically working on set up serial production. Give a few years of factory set ups and the plane will start cranking up in numbers.
