Mig-31 was built for high speed interception but turns out it is an exceptional high speed missile slinger. I believe J-36 too will make a good strike platform without even building around it
Large weapon bay, long range, high altitude, high speed. Any bomb it drop can glide for a long time. PL-17 is a huge missile. If the bay can fit 4, then antiship missile too can fit.
It's pretty clear by now that we have this project partly because the need for a naval variant.
J-35 according to Shilao and Xi Yazhou folks can operate off Type 076 due to EMAL. I see no reason why you can't do it with SAC 6th gen

On the subject i would theorize that the EMALS on 076 would be of the same type as the 3 EMALS on Fujian, imo it's common sense commonality wise. So since Fujian can surely operate the heavy J-15 and KJ-600 and very likely the J-50, one would think indeed J-50 could operate off 076 too, let alone J-35.
As per @GTI, the FB-22 / NG’s FB project was looking at cheap glide munitions at Mach 2, for a 170km range.
But I don't expect a J-36 to be doing much of this, because there are far better alternatives. In the 1IC, there would be 1000+ 4th gen fighters for example and a sino-SDB with a 100km+ range would be able to reach every worthwhile target with a launch over the sea.
can? but no, there is no Fresnel lens optical aid system installed, likely drone only. The parking space is less than 12m wide at the starboard side, suitable for short-body drones.
if this image is accurate, 076's elevators are significantly smaller when compared to Fujian. J-XDS is bigger than a J-15 and probably won't fit at least on the current version of 076.

Nothing that can't be modified to handle. These platforms are clearly not built for piloted fighter right now. But can they be modified to handle 2 to 4 of them when they see the need to do so? I don't see why not. You really only need a couple of them to control a whole bunch of drones.
Again, it's really dependent on how they envision 076 to do. If they are just being used for Taiwan mission, there is no need to land fighter jets on them. This is more of a thought for future mission. Do you want to have the flexibility of carrying a couple of J-XX that can control 12 to 14 drones?
Imo 076 should stick to its strengths as a amphibious assualt dock first and carrier second. The drone support role should be secondary to its main purpose of deploying armoured assets on to a beachhead. Why would valuable interior space be used to host fighters when there are carriers dedicated to the role?
China does not have global military obligations, it does not need every flat top to be a jack of all trades.
