In the recent 4 years, Asian countries have many accomplishments. One is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.


Another is the ASEAN-China (10+1) trade bloc, effecting population ranging about 2 billion people, 1/3 of current world population.

The potential for economic and military growth in Asia is ever more greater.

Cooperation on security

The SCO is primarily centered around its member nations' security-related concerns, often describing the main threats it confronts as being , and .
Starting in 2003, there was a joint center built in , China. In the - , SCO summit, held in , , the SCO agreed to form the Regional Antiterrorism Structure (RATS). On , the SCO also decided to establish a new institute to fight cross-border drug crimes.
claimed in April 2006 that the SCO has no plans to become a military bloc; nonetheless he argued that the increased threats of "terrorism, extremism and separatism" make necessary a full-scale involvement of armed forces.
There have been a number of SCO joint military exercises: The first of these was held in 2003, with the first phase taking place in Kazakhstan and the second in China.
On a larger scale, but outside the SCO framework, the first ever joint military exercise between the and , called started on , . Following the successful completion of the Sino-Russian exercises, Russian officials have begun speaking of the SCO taking on a military role and of India also joining these exercises in the future.
The next joint military exercises are planned for 2007 in Russia, near the and close to Central Asia, as was agreed upon on April 2006 at a meeting of SCO Defense Ministers. Air forces and precision-guided weapons are likely to be used. Russian Defense Minister said that the exercises will be transparent and open to media and the public.
The next meeting of Defense Ministers is planned for 2007 in Kyrgyzstan.

Economic cooperation

A Framework Agreement to enhance economic cooperation was signed by the SCO member states on . At the same meeting the , proposed a long-term objective to establish a in the SCO, while other more immediate measures would be taken to improve the flow of goods in the region. A follow up plan with 100 specific actions was signed one year later, on , .
On the Summit of the SCO, the Secretary General of the Organization said that the SCO will prioritize joint energy projects; such will include the oil and gas sector, the exploration of new hydrocarbon reserves, and joint use of water resources. The creation of an Inter-bank SCO Council was also agreed upon at that summit in order to fund future joint projects. The first meeting of the SCO Interbank Association was held in Beijing on - .
