Hey, I'm trying to do a PLAN/JMSDF scenario for SCS Fleet Command's Naval Warfare Project.
Quick FYI on Fleet Command:
A youtube vid of a sample Fleet Command game (a 2011 version of the Battle of Trafalgar -- France + Spain vs England):
This is a pretty fun game, but there are no scenarios that let you play as the Chinese side (although there are twenty or so that let you play against the Chinese :roll. Furthermore, most of the China scenarios are patently ludicrous, ridiculous, or out-of-date.
What I wanted to do was do a proper simulation of a Senkaku Islands battle, one that involved the East Sea Fleet and North Sea Fleet vs the JMSDF and possible USN or ROKN assets. Could the kind folks here give a brief run-down of the orbat and likely pre-battle fleet dispositions, as well as likely in-battle approach vectors and grand tactics?
Thanks so much!
Quick FYI on Fleet Command:
Fleet Command, previously labelled as Jane's Fleet Command, is a real-time tactics naval warfare simulation computer game released in 1999. It was developed by Sonalysts Inc. and published by Electronic Arts (EA). The game licensed parts of Jane's Information Group's military information database, which was used as an in-game "Jane's Library", reference material that the player could refer to while in-game. Jane's also licensed to EA the "Jane's" name and the "Jane's Combat Simulations" logo, and the game was marketed under the "Jane's" name, much like the previous "Jane's Fighters Anthology", also published by Electronic Arts. The game was also released in a three-game "Naval Combat Pack" along with 688(I) and F/A-18 Hornet.
