QCW-05 SMG Translation help!

Hello, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post! Anyway, I have question about China's latest smg, the QCW-05 and the QCQ-05. I'm writing a wikipedia article on the QCW-05 but I've run into a little problem. All the Chinese sources I've found call the QCW-05, or in Chinese 微声冲锋枪, or in pinyin, 'Weisheng Chongfeng Qiang' which translates into 'silenced assault rifle'. The problem is that the acronym in pinyin is WCQ rather than QCW which is really confusing. Maybe I'm getting the name wrong, even though I'm half Chinese half Cambodian I can't read either language, so if somebody could help explain this to me, I'd really appreciate it!

On another related topic, what does QCQ in the QCQ-05 non-silenced smg stand for in pinyin and in how do you spell it's name in Chinese? I'm asking here because my friends can only read traditional and have a hard time with simplified.

On A related question, I read that the QCW-05 has a rate of fire of ~400 rounds/min which is rather low for an SMG. Is this slow rate of fire from the gun itself or caused by the suppressor or the use of DCV05 rather than the DPB87? I have read the PLA was looking for an SMG with a low rate of fire that would be able to shoot more steadily and that the QCW-05 had a removeable silencer so that it would be used by all branches of the PLA where a silencer would not be necessary, is this true as well?

微声-Silenced
冲锋-Assault
枪-gun
Although 冲锋枪 translates to submachine gun.
so QCW is gun assault silenced. same naming system as western countries.

So in English it is 'Qiāng Chōngfēng Wēishēng'? Thanks for the confirmation King_Comm.

Yes, by now I'm figured out the pinyin myseld, QCQ is 轻型冲锋枪, or in pinyin 'Qīngxíng Chōngfēng Qiāng', which means 'light assault rifle'.

Now on to the police/civilian variant of the QCW-05, most Chinese sites simply call it the JS 9mm冲锋枪 (Chōngfēng Qiāng), is that's it's official name now? Normally I'd just go to Jianshe's website like I do for Norinco, Iran's DIO or India's IOF but Jianshe's website is (not surprisingly) just full of motorcycles.

Technically, QCQ suppose to be Qiāng Chōngfēng Qīngxíng--gun, assault, light.
QCW is the official designation, and JS 9mm is just a common name by which people call this particular gun.

Ahh thanks. Do any police forces in China or internationally use the JS?

The gun was introduced not long ago. It should be in service with different police departments of China (Though not all) but I don't think it has been exported yet.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I'e been reading a lot about the QCW weapons system, it turns out the JS 9mm isn't intended for local use, just like the QC, it's for export only interestingly enough, through NORINCO rather than China South Industries Group or their subsidary who developed the SMG in the first place, Jianshe (who in the west are best know fortheir motorcycles and atvs rather than their firearms). From what I've read the QCW-05 and the QCQ-05 variant (without the suppressor) are already in service with the Kaifeng Public Security department

along with some PAP forces. I don't expect it to replace the Type 85 and Type 79 (especially with the new CQB equipment for the Type 79) entirely though, they're very well suited for police work and counter-terrorism work, the QCW-05 and QCQ-05 are best suited IMO for their role as the weapon of choice for special forces (more so for the QCW-05 than the QCQ-05), vehicle crews and aircraft ground crew who are generally in small, tightly confined spaces and would be facing conventional enemies with some form of modern body armour.
