I was looking at the USN web site and saw this story. I found the fact that this PLA General Guo Boxiong, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, People's Liberation Army was visiting the USN in San Diego very intresting. I know that a few months ago PACCOM ADM. W. Fallon visited the PLA in the PRC in May.
What I would like to know is what do our forum members think of a visit like this? Good? bad? Indiffrent? Also how high up is this general in the PLA chain of command? Personally I think this is a great exchange.
(July 17, 2006) - General Guo Boxiong, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, People's Liberation Army, China, Commander Naval Surface Forces Vice Adm. Terrance Etnyre, and Commander Carrier Strike Group Seven, Rear Adm. Michael Miller tour USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Boxiong tour of Reagan was part of a visit to the United States to improve military understanding by both nations, enhance friendships and expand mutual cooperation.
I found another pic of the General with of all people Rummy!!!! Dude must be heavy hitter to be invited to the Pentagon....
