The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has said a lorry(truck) intercepted by the authorities was transporting weapons for its fighters. Hezbollah has demanded the return of the lorry and the arms.

Lebanese government officials said that a vehicle had been stopped in Beirut after travelling from the Bekaa Valley, in the east of the country. They said the lorry had been taken away for further examination and are refusing to return it.

The discovery of the weapons comes amid a political crisis in Lebanon that has raised fears of a return to civil war.

Looks like the Lebanese government may be playing hard-ball with Hezbollah. I'm glad to see that - giving in to threats won't build peace in the country. I also like the idea of sending the weapons to the Lebanese Army - put them to good use!

Could be..But it may be just a show by the Lebanese government to apease the Isreali's and her allies. You know, make it appear they are trying to contain Hezbollah. just my opinion Fu.

Something that really strikes me here is that the Hezbolla actually demands the return of those weapons. A NGO (to put it really friendly) demanding military equipment.
That's a bad sign that they now seek confrontation that openly.

Given that Hezbollah is trying to overthrow the elected Lebanese government/blackmail it to obtain veto power in the government through protests and violence, I think it is in the Lebanese government's best interest to disarm them!

Oh, they want to have the option of using violence to remain a powerful organisation in Lebanon. They will not walk away quietly into the night if democracy does not give them what they want.
