Some folks at PLANAF just can't wait.

Two observations, both a bit off-topic:

(1) It's odd that the characters at the top of the patch aren't centered. I wonder if there are actually more characters that continue around the arc that have been PS'd out for some reason.

(2) It would have been nice to see some eye protection here.

reason is obvious to me, fleet name, air group/unit name and numbers.

I think it's a J-31. Wings are too small and the horizontal stabs don't cut in a part of the wings.

Speaking of which actually, there's a rumor circulating right now that the air force variant will not be under the "J-31" designation but rather a "J-35(X)."

The J-31 (not the J-35 air force parallel) will be for export.
