Yes I know. That’s what’s confusing me about the model He Owns. Those clearly are not maintenance hatches on the smaller models. Why does the chief designer have subpar/inaccurate models of the plane he made.

Because they are bad at PR and don't focus that much about people interpreting outcomes of inaccurate models.

3/4 of the "why is this XYZ public relations thingy like this" questions can be answered with "they are incompetent at PR".

The second screenshot with the CCTV logo on it is said to be from an interview with Liu Daxiang, a venerable jet engine designer who has long retired. He probably received that model as a gift from someone outside the aviation industry who had no idea of the model's accuracy.

Thailand used to operate Harrier aircraft from their carrier and they bought the Type 071E LPD. So I would not 100% dismiss this possibility.

There's been some debate to that: the second hand Spanish Harriers that Thailand received as the intended fixed wing component for the HTMS Chakri Naruebet were reportedly delivered in terrible condition, if at all flyable in any reasonable fashion.

Anyhow, so hypothetically speaking would Thailand operate the navalized version of the J-35 off the HTMS Chakri Naruebet or off an EMALS equipped CVL or LHA due to be delivered by CSSC?

Or are you suggesting a VTOL version of the J-35 capable of operating from the HTMS Chang is in fact under active development?! :p

VTOL is pretty much out of the question. It's redesign is way too restrictive. Unless the J-35 was designed with this in mind which it doesn't look like it.
