So many defense exhibitions lately... it is hard to keep track.

Compared to 2012, Indodefence 2014 was larger with lots of exotic and international products

A video overview of the event:

DSME showcasing its next generation KDDX Destroyer for ROK Navy at Indo Defence 2014
Based on the model (and confirmed by two DSME representatives at Indo Defence), the KDDX will be fitted with 16x SSM-700K Haeseong (C-Star) Anti-ship Missile launchers, 48x vertical launch systems at the bow (MK41 from Lockheed Martin or some Korean VLS under development by Doosan) for surface to air missiles, 16x larger K-VLS back aft. This could not be confirmed at Indo Defence, but Navy Recognition believes these larger K-VLS will be used to store and launch LIG Nex1's Hyunmoo-3C land attack cruise missiles with a range of about 1,500 km. There are speculations in South Korea that there will also be an anti-ship version of the Hyunmoo missile. A Phalanx CIWS is fitted on top of the dual helicopter hangar.

Nice looking DDG. Very clean lines.

Looks like a very capable follow on to the KDX I and II. The Kireans build some nice ships.

But, NavyReco, I had heard that the ROKN was going to get two or three more KLDX IIIs Se Jongs. What do you hear?

Are these new KDDX designs what they are planning in addition to that?

Sorry Jeff, the part about ROK Navy finding KDX III too expensive to operate is pretty much all they told me... They didn't want to give me a date for the launch of even the number of hulls planned for KDDX...

During Indodefence 2014, the international defence exhibition held in Jakarta in November, SAAB and local shipyard PT Lundin presented a redesigned Stealth Fast Attack Craft (FAC) trimaran. The first hull of the original project called KRI Klewang 625 (solely designed and built by PT Lundin) was destroyed in a fire in Septembre 2012 shortly after its launch.
