I have been told from a very reliable source that...

the CCP grew opium during the 1930s, 40s, and maybe the 50s to support their activities. Mostly in the Nanniwan area, while the famous general Wang Zhen did turn the area into a fertile farm land, the land was actually mostly used for growing opium. I believe one of the people who came up with the idea was a former landlord called "Li Ding Ming" (I am not sure if the name is actually DingMing however I know the Li surname is correct). If anyone knows of this incident or even the landlord please post, as these information could help me piece together a person's family history. Thanks guys.

most likely fake, anyone that knows Wang Zhen and what he did in Xinjiang...not the type of dude that would tolerate this kind of stuff.

It is possible for some corrupt low level offericers to do that. However, No way Wang Zhen would do something as low as that.... I have heard a lot of bad stuff I did not know about China ever since i came to the States but this is the first time someone actually even think the CCP became drug dealers...

I wouldn't be surprised. They did afterall execute drug dealers and abusers when the communist took power. Was it for personal profit or creating funds to fight a war? If it was the latter, exploiting somone they despised probably didn't bother them. I also wouldn't be surprised this was just propaganda. much like how some in the mainstream news is jumping on China being racist while Obama is in China. Really? Anything they point to I can literally find a worse and ten times as many examples of their own. So do they really care about racism in China or are they just trying to divert attention away from their own racism? Just look at who was behind the Opium Wars in the first place.

If anyone cultivating opium, it is not the CCP, like Siwinder101 said, possibly some low corrupt person. CCP can never tolerate such action, they were very idealistic, not some low down opportunist profiting from people's suffering.

Opium has done financial ruin and national shame to China, no political party would dare to profit from drug.

It was also rumored that the communists during the Long March used some easily procured drug, I forget which one, to keep them going.

the closest scenario i can think of is local drug lord doing the stuff under the name of CCP, without CCP actually knowing. if its now, i'd believe stories about CCP cadre collaborating with drug dealers, back then...no way, especially under Wang Zhen.

epoch time is actually one of the less ridiculous newspapers. forgot which one came up with the story of how the commander of the Chinese national day parade units, also the commander of Beijing MR, staged a coup and took control of China and is actually the one ruling China from behind the scene right now. and ppl actually buy that.
