and i have also learned that there are some pretty bullshit dress and deportment standards in the CF. i mean i used to be ordered to polish the bottom of my boots back when i was an infanteer, but this summer they've taken it to a whole new level.

hands up if you think that WHITE GLOVES SHOULD NOT BE WORN DURING INSPECTION

Welcome back. With all those northern hemisphere countries making claims on the arctic, I thought countries may start to station a few troops to wave the flag on their behalf up there and you are in the regimental squad thats been sent up there for the next year or so to reinforce Canada's claim. I read somewhere the Russians were going to send a sub up there, so I wonder what you would do if you came across it.You wouldnt have to worry about polished boots and white gloves on parade:D

Canada does have rangers patrolling the north, but you know what, as much as feel the responsibility to contribute my effort towards the protection of Canadian soil,there is no way anyone is sending me up there. its basically you and prolly another unlucky dude stuck up there for six months with nothing to do. i rather polish my boots thank you.

and yeah i think Russian sub has been patrolling the arctic for decades now...not that there is anything anyone can do about it. heck they've even resumed patrolling close to US waters.

arctic is a place where everyone is at odds with everyone. in the end i think there will be alliances and compromises. but some exchange of rhetoric is expected in the short term
