thought i'd throw this topic in cuz in a military everyone might have the standard beret but it looks all different when you put em on. its one of the first things i noticed upon joining the reserves. and you can really tell by the way one wears his beret whether or not he is a recruit. (of course after about a month you wont be able to tell anymore)
in the Canadian Forces basic training we used to be taught that beret should be worn with the bottom edge two finger widths above the eyebrow. that's what i see with a lot of the old school senior NCO's, who does everything according to the rulebook (they prolly made it). but as i went into higher trainings, some younger instructors introduced a term called "CLF" (cool lookin factor). that means the bottom edge of the beret has to be touching your eyebrow, its supposed to make you look "badass" and when you look badass you can kill ppl. and it is prefered that you get a smaller beret because smaller ones look badass and the big ones look like pizza hat. so in the CF a lot of the senior officers and NCO's tend to have bigger berets worn two finger widths above their eyebrow, like it should, but more ppl prefer to have their beret lil smaller and closer to the eyebrow so it looks more intimadating LOL.

yeah especially when you first got them and havent formed them to your head yet. the common ritual in the CF for this is to cut out the liner and wear them in the shower. i am not sure what is it like in the US, cuz their beret look pretty damn large. anyone have a clue?

I don't like to cut my clothes and stuff, so i was reluctant in the beginning, but after i cut the liner out in the end, it really did work better

i never wore it in shower though, cuz i realized the beret smells bad enough already
