The HMMWV's main problem is that it has been put to perform missions for which it never was intended. Instead of being used as a replacement for the Jeep it has been used as a cheaper subsitute for an APC sometimes, and as such has suffered due to the lack of armament. Keeping a number of HMMWV's in service would do good, but they should be accompanied with a lightly armoured wheeled vehcile to fullfill patrols and transport in dangerous zones.

A frontline vehicle has to be universal and this removes the LSV and that "concept Marine corps vehicle".My thoughts why they wont do:
1)No place for cargo
2)Probably badly protected (small arms fire, mines etc.)
3)Mostly fitted for reconnaissance

This leaves us with 3.2 of them are just on paper or no data is avialable and the 3d one is mainly for reconnaissance so we cannot make any clear statments for now.Maybe later when more data becomes available about those concept vehicles.

some of those pics look like some toy advertisement posters. other look simply too small or unarmored to fully replace the hummer. i dont think the hummer needs a replacement for a while. its still a relatively new vehicle, serving aroung 20 years. the jeep served 40+ years.

Well, if I remember right, the jeep was designed for MP uses, not specifically to have armor.

The 1st design is bizarre. It is totally practical. What is the point of all those angles?
The 2nd design is more like a hummer without the wheel covers.
The 3rd and 5th design fit in a more different role: SOF vehicle in the wild.
The 3rd design looks like a modified truck from 80s with the basic single cab design, but with floating abilities.
The 5th design is ugly... BUT it's useful and adaptable. It's more of a FAV than a jeep or humvee, though, at least by today's standards. (You don't see Humvees going offroad these days, and this vehicle has no skin.)
The 4th concept is futuristic and economic. But it looks flimsy, and its roles are limited.

Well, to be honest, I don't think there's a immediate need to replace the HMMWV (stand for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicule, is not HUMVEE) because of a few reason.

1- in his basical role of troop carrier, ambulance and light recon and communication vehicule, it's perfect, but you cannot ask this thing to do everything, basically, it was design to patrol in low-danger zone (mean were there only a risk of been shot at with light firearm, not some air bomb or RPG). SOF have they own version of the HMMWV called the GMV (Ground Mobility Vehicule, a kind of long-range HMMWV like the British SAS patrol version of the Land Rover use in 1991)

2-The 3rd picture is a picture of the US National Guard...

3-When IED can destroy M1A1, do you think that a "nimble" HMMWV" can survive ??

4-In Afghanistan (this is a low-danger zone!! not Iraq) The Canadian Armed Force were using Iltis Jeep at the beginning, we refused to use the HMMWV that the US borrowed to us, after than a Iltis rolled on a mine and 2 infantryman died, the investigation conclued if we have use the HMMWV for patrolling, those soldiers will be still alive. Recently, we start to field our new G-Wagen that have similiar protection than a armored HMMWV, a IED exploded when a patrol of G-Wagen was rolling, all the crew survived. If we have use HMMWV, the resultat will be the same, all crew will have survived.

5-News don't talk about those who life was saved by the armor, only those who died...
