Future Chinese Surface Combat system (WIP)

Hey guys, this is my first post here n this site. Let me know if it is not the right place to post such thread.

This is a concept of the future Chinese navy vessels in 2020. Similar to the Royal Navy S2C2 project. It consists of a small (2000ton class) covertte, a 6000ton class multi-role frigate/destroyer, a 8000ton class air-defense destroyer, and a 14000ton class multi-role support/command vessel.

It is still Work In Progress, the CVs, LHDs is not included yet.

CIWS:

Great first post. I too am into "what if" sketching, and have a few designs going around. Your design shows a good awareness of Stealth, and I like the CIWS. Wouldn't you want to make that more stealthy also?

Are these chinese concepts or are they the british ships?

This image was intended for the Ideal PLAN carrier escort thread but I think this is a more current thread along similar lines. This is a Type-052A hull with a different superstructure and weapons layout, to fulfill the air defense roll.

The superstructure is heavily influenced by European design trends with an asymmetric mast layout.

The ship has 4 more HQ-9 launchers (32 missiles) than the Type-052B. The SSM launchers are sacrificed, and the main gun is a 76mm CIWS/GP with guided ammo (like OTO-Melara Strales).

There should be some extra form of CIWS over the hanger(?).

Wonder if the multi hull like catamaran or trimaran work better than the single hull?

Personally I feel that the air defense destroyer would be better off with a 10,000 ton displacement, and probably a nuclear powerplant as well.

I quite agree. Seems to me that the artist knows very well what he's doing, and the designs are clean and simple.
