The March 23 release of British slasher film, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, in Hong Kong.
Winnie the Pooh has been a flashpoint for censorship in China , when memes comparing the bear to president Xi Jinping first went viral. In 2018, Christopher Robin, an adaptation of A.A. Milne’s storybooks featuring Winnie the Pooh. ended up selling merch with an image of Winnie the Pooh during the in China against the government.
A more plausible reason is that the film was censored for its slasher content, which follows Pooh and Piglet, now feral and bloodthirsty murderers. Article 25 in China’s 2002 Film and Administration Regulation of content that “propagates evil cults or superstition.”
No reasons were cited for pulling the film.
Wouldn't be surprised if they just made this movie for this propaganda purposes.
