She's with the PLA A&E Troop from 2003 to 2007, and now she's striking out in Japan with her first solo album last fall. Her showbiz name is simply Alan but her full name is Alham Dawa Drolma. And yes, she's Tibetan. I agree with Henry Yeh she's seriously cute and by golly, she can sing.

I don't read Mandarin very well and simplified is even harder for me. Not that I can use Google translation to help me fill in and give me a rough sense. I have not followed her blog lately but I do think that Sakura Modern and Ashita e no Sanka are amazing songs.

I'll leave the word pretty for other people to say, but that's one voice that she has! Long and high! (Although I can't help but think that Ashita e no Sanka can be a voice killer!) Nothing like the stuff you find around anywhere.

Never heard of this girl in China. Is she based in Japan now or still based in China? Minority culture singer are kind of getting popular here, I am surprised that I haven't heard of her yet...but again I might be spending too much time reading defence news than the entertainment news.

She was a student in the Art university of PLA. She had an album in China and now signed by a Japanese music company. I don't think she ever joined PLA.

Like I said, she's with the PLA arts and entertainment troupe. Not a regular military unit, but a unit that goes around entertaining troops. In CCTV, she appeared wearing PLA uniform. Even after signing up with AVEX, last year she was still entertaining PLA troops. I remember there was some pictures of her on top of a T-96 or T-99 tank. Yes she's currently based in Japan but she still runs her personal blog in sina.com.cn.

Is it me or does she looks quite a bit like Ayumi Hamasaki?

from the official website you provided, she just graduated from school in july, 2007. A student is not a troop yet. What she was wearing in the show was not uniform for troops, but the official show uniform for PLA.
