Eh101?

Hi, my sister saw a military helicopter on holiday and took a foto because she knows I'd be interested. I think it is a Westland EH101 but I am not sure. I cannot find anything on the web saying that China uses the EH101. It seems to be a special surveillance version with lots of radars on it.

Is it an EH101?

Hi Arnold. That's not an EH101; it's a Super Frelon which China makes as the Z-8. I'm not much help re ID'ing the exact varient I'm afraid.

That is not a eh101, its a chinese z-8. the z-8 looks like its been photoshopped too. Whats are those things uder it's belly?

Here's a close-up. I know what it looks like under the belly to me but I'll leave it to someone else to say.

When I first saw that photo I thought PS'd. Definately. I still think it is. Second, the thing underneath looks like a gun pod or a radar. Maybe it is some sort of sonar. But look at it close. There is a whit square right in the middle. Not real. No offense to you sister. Plus I don't think that a military helicopter would just fly really low over Hong Kong or Shanghai harbor, or wherever that is.:coffee:

No offence, but the pod underneath the Super Frelon looks more like Star Wars than real life....

EH 101s do not have as large of a tail boom and look more modern.

OK, the original pic is a Z-8 with what appears to be a Type-730 CIWS mounted under the belly, possibly retracting into the underside for landing. Is there any mention/hints at such a modification that would help substaniate the picture?

Excuse me,

I ask that this post be removed...it is ridiculous and already out of question that it is NOT an EH101 and is a PS...end of story.

There could be a PS post set up if not already, but there is little point to continue this discussion.

1) China does not and probably will not acquire EH101.
2) Z-8, bottom line.
3) It is the most ridiculous thing to see someone PS a Type 730 onto a helicopter.

This is a PS. After all, how will a chopper take on the recoil of a CIWS? (Looks more like a 20mm cannon)
Z-8s doesn't look like that. (Z-8A is in army service.)
Even more obvious, how will the thing land at all?
