Does the PLA recruit in Hong Kong?

I would like to know if Hong Kong residents are allowed to serve in the PLA? And if so, how does a young person go about volunteering? Are there recruiters on the island? I'm not asking if there's a major recruit installation, just if recruiters have any offices there for people to walk in. Thanks!

No, they don't, in fact i'm pretty sure joining any sort of military organization is against Hong Kong's constitution.

I wonder why they don't recruit in HK, doubts about loyalty? Pay expectations too high?

I would have thought the last point is one big reason. HongKong's per capita income is way above the mainland's - I don't know they could actually survive on a PLA income unless they moved somewhere cheaper.

Doubts about loyalty would be rather paranoid and discriminatory, though. If HKers wanted to join the PLA, they would want to join end of story. I don't see them being "unloyal". Unless the PLA command would be worried their upbringing making them less likely to shoot *******watch it!! read the annaucement about temporally forbidden topics. Gollevainen*******
