Does anyone else feel this way?

When you see an update in the Banned Member Thread, do you feel an instinctive desire to check out who got banned and why? I know I do. It really isn't all that different than going to a public execution in the 15th century.

LOL!! The list is to advise members that certian rules infractions will led to a member being banned. I remember back in the day before I was a mod, yes there was a time, I use to check that list when it showed up as a new post.

Correct. He fears being at SDF will inhibit his studies. No worries..he'll be back!

I'm new here and that was one of the first threads I checked out! We can all learn from someone elses misdemeanors. I guess we have a facination with seeing someone's conflict with authority.

Me too. The threads that I never miss are 'Banned Members List' and 'Warning List'

As long as a ban is imposed fairly according to the rules, it is then acceptable. However, I know of one other forum that has banned a person because of his legitimate & realistic comments, because 3 others disagreed with the person's opinions. This led to all sorts of silly queries that the moderator intervened by imposing an unjustifiable 3-day ban on the person concerned, with vague/incomprehensible reasons given. It appeared some sort of a "ganging-up" had occured. The bias & lack professionalism only make people leave such a forum without any regret. Glad that Sino-Defence remains a professional forum to date.

... or dare I say morbid curiosity to look at the obituaries section in the newspapers. Well at least the days when people still read newspapers.
