Are they going to stop production of the C909 once the few Chinese orders left are fulfilled? From what I have red, the market for this small passenger plane in China is not that large due to high speed rail. The C919 seems to be the one who has huge demand which I don't think COMAC can even meet up for decades.11 C909s in the same image.

I believe they should just focus more on foreign market and set up faculties overseas for this to expand their market outside China.
Plus, does anybody has any idea why C909 production target is this year? Afterall, it has been operational for over a decade now. I believe production should be high by now?
There is a market for regional plane, to compete with A220 and to replace 717. That market isn't large, like in Vietnam only 3 airports required regional jets, but COMAC can use this market to tap in new countriesI think you got your answer with the Vietjet news.
That said, they renamed it C909 from the ARJ-21 as a permanent member of its stable. They obviously think that it has a future market.
