no the true matter is if indonesia able to withstand US/western/australia/japan ...hell even south korea closed door economic threat or not
countries don't buy chinese weapon not because they don't trust china , but because they can't withstand closed door threat from US and their allied gang . and no one there to help them
meanwhile china post no threat whatsoever to even taiwan when they buy a crap tons of weapon from china's enemy .

China is completely fiffreent from the soviet union , whether ideologically, culturally or politically. They dont look anything alike . Plus china has a foreign policy of non intzrventuin in countries affairs . So they prefer to stay away from fanning or supporting any country in any conflicts and issues, which has served the country well so far. Reason i said for small/middle powers, its irrational and stupid to go against the US , when you have no power or ally to withstand the worlds some superpower. When even china is careful to manage her relations with the US and acoid conflict yet you see some foolish delusional small countries like Venezuela, Iran or Cuba thinking they can really stand up to the US. Lol. If the US disregard everything they can destroy these countries leadership and territories and theres nothing these countries can do. The only thing peotescting them is still some sort of international law, and US trying to focus onnher main rival China.
If i was a leader of a middle or small power, i will either ally with the US and reap the benefits or at least maintain friendly ties with the US and other powers and benefit from all sides like Indonesia, malaysia are doing. Only a fool will go against/be openly hostile towards a global superpower trying to act tough and brave. It beings no benefits to this smaller powers. The US still largely dominates the worlds system, so better align yourself smartly for now and benefit. If things change drastically in future then policy can be changed depending on the situation
