The first HH200 cargo UAV unit of Xi'an AC has rolled out of the line. Posted by @Polis城邦工作室 on Weibo.

Honestly, I think that perhaps Xi'an AC should collaborate with Shaanxi AC and develop the unmanned variant of the Y-8/9 cargo UAV that the latter has shown in an aviation expo some months ago, and leave the smaller cargo UAV markets to the other smaller ACs and private companies...

So wz7 doesnt seem to have an optical surveilance option? At least in all these years we have mever seen one? No very large aperture optical sensor (as on U2 optical sensor variant nose)? So main/only role would then be radar imaging? Providing those side panels in front of the wing hide radar arrays?

A short excerpt from an academic paper quoted by SOYO on Weibo, referring to the unmanned/drone variant of the Y-8:

With advances in technology, the payload capacity of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) continues to increase. During the conversion of manned aircraft into UAVs, system integration faces new challenges: it is necessary to maximize comprehensive benefits at the aircraft level while preserving the original system architecture as much as possible. The application of electric drive technology must balance the relationship between innovation and inheritance. For example, converting existing models like the Yun-8 aircraft into UAVs requires electrification design, which will inevitably involve modifications to the existing hydraulic energy and power supply systems. Following this line of thinking, this paper proposes a battery-powered high-lift system that can be easily integrated into the aircraft's 28V DC power supply network without modifying the original electrical system. Moreover, it contributes to overall weight reduction at the aircraft level. In the future, combining lightweight material technologies from the literature can further optimize the system’s weight.
