China's transport, tanker & heavy lift aircraft

When China rolls out its prototype of Y-20, we can probably expect mass productions with this aircraft. And when that happens, I guess we can say the Chinese military aviation industry would be 85% self-reliant. Only issues left not seen would be even more matured engine, strategic bomber, and more various types of advanced EW,ASW,C4SIR, and surveillance aircrafts of various sorts. If China possesses all of these, we can probably claim China would only be second to US, no one else.

Can't mass produce heavy transports without dependable supply of quality domestic HBP turbofan engines, and by most accounts, China is several years away from it.

I do hope the CG image isnt realistic at least when it comes to the flaps. I don't see why there needs to be such a gap between two flaps. I would hope for a solution more akin to the c17, with one continuous flap or il76 where the gap is almost not visible.

usually we see mock-ups, models and pictures of aircraft at air shows and exhibitions etc but why has there been nothing on Y-20? we dont even know what its going to look like? sometimes i wonder even if its exists!

Y-9 was shown years ago we always knew of its existance but Y-20?

neverthless if it is anything like the above then its very nice, i wonder what the max. payload will be, i guess it can lift a modern Chinese MBT, so ~55+ tons

The slot allows air to pass through which helps keep the boundary layer attached to the flap.
