Why? In fact such a type would be a waste of resources and a step back in comparison to the C919! The WS-20 engines are military grade engines a generation older than the current LEAP-X and the future CJ1000. In fact it simply makes no sense at all.

You know there is a continent that's grappling with renewed fear of land war and whose strategic airlifting force consists of a grand total of 3 C-17s. Maybe they should consider getting themselves some Y-20s?

China should demonstrate more long range deployments like they did the Serbia SAM shipment
