Potentially really silly question, but does anyone know why the Y-20 sports black paint? Is it RAM coating?

All Tactical Airlifters wear a dark camo or some variation there-of, I can remember my Dad's reaction to the 430 lbs of RAM coating worn by the Combat Talon I, he was disgusted, the all aluminum C-130 was indeed a "looker" wthout paint. camo is just ugly most of the time.

Now, I have to think that the black RAM coating absorbs more colors and therefore adds to a bigger IR signature. Given the prevalence of IR-AAMs and the slow speeds of large transports, wouldn't that decrease its survival rate?

A nice pic of Y-9 via huitong
If you look carefully you can see the two small MAWS apertures on either side of the nose radome.

Shaanxi should really start to enlarge its production line. With the Y-9 platform now used for everything from transport, AEWC, ELINT/SIGINT/EW, command and control, MPA, they should try to match lockheed C-130J production rates.

Wouldn't a Y-9 MPA need a redesigned wing to support external hardpoints?
