Enhance picture. Inboard engine seemed to be a little fatter, or is it optical illussion?

Is this the first or second prototype? They will keep both engines the same for ease of testing and gathering data for both both aircraft

Can't see them switching between engines too much work and too much variance

according to avaition week the joint sino russia helopcopter porject is bigger than Mi-26.it designated as AC332.

But one correction !!!

A proposed Russian-Chinese helicopter that has been nudging close to the size of the largest U.S. rotorcraft may turn out to be somewhat bigger. In its latest public review of product plans, China's Avicopter suggests that the Advanced Heavy Lifter (AHL) may be eclipsed only by Russia's giant Mil Mi-26.

Meanwhile, Avicopter has slipped the development schedule of a proposed 3.1-metric-ton (6,800-lb.) helicopter, revealed more data about the type and confirmed its designation as the AC332. The manufacturer has also set out its latest advances in rotorcraft onboard systems, including technology of crashworthy fuel tanks. This is a key issue because the Chinese industry is seriously lagging in electromechanical equipment and avionics.

This new "monster-helicopter" is not the AC332 but simply called so far the "Advanced Heavy Lifter" (AHL) ... the AC332 is a much smaller design in the 3.1-metric-ton (6,800-lb.) class.

article clearly says mi26 is probably going to be bigger than AHL. "may be eclipsed only by mi-26". While that could be read as "two helos are going to be very close in size so we don't know if it's going to bigger, therefore we say it may be eclipsed"

more natural meaning of that sentence in english is "mi-26 is bigger, and it is likely (but not impossible) no other helicoper will be bigger."

That in itself may give us a clue as to how big the helicopter it may be. Current second biggest helicopter (in active service) is US ch53e, at just over 33 tons. There's its bigger variant in development, ch53k, weighing in at 38 tons.

So, for starters, that's a bracket we may expect this AHL to strive for, until we get some better info. 35-40 tons is absolutely a huge helicopter. Actually, too big for most missions, which makes it a bit weird that both China and Russia would pursue such a project when more useful weight classes (like 20-30 tons) are not available in both country's armed forces.
