China's transport, tanker & heavy lift aircraft

While I like some camo paint, as China's airspace becomes more crowded a high-vis paint isn't a bad idea unless you are special ops or in a combat zone, USAF began to camo tactical airlifters, and my Dad was not a fan, he was nearly run-over by some flying stove pipes-(T-38 talon) on short final, maybe down at Barksdale, La.

I like the old Navy overall white with recognition orange on nose, wings and tail???? Brat

China airspace is far from crowded, all because PLAAF still sticks to the old playbook.

It's hightime for China's airlifters to ditch that Aeroflot style paintjob and adopt the combat-oriented ones, that includes the way they paint the flag and insignia as well - there's absolutely no point in having air-superiority gray yet styled with bright red-and-yellow insignia. It's not like PLAAF doesn't have low-vis insignia, because their nuclear-mission H-6 bombers have low-vis insignia.

I guess because the contrast between the red flag and insignia is greater with the dark paint scheme. I prefer the red star instead with August 1st Chinese characters written on it.

Is it feasible to fly, take-off and land transports UAV style? They are usually just flown from fixed destinations to destinations anyway.

You may even have one pilot setting flight path for multiple transports, then took over manual control and land them one by one as they approach their destination, or have multiple pilots do the job if needed then.

Now thats just crazy no-name, would you get on a plane with no pilot on board and trust a goofy piece of electronics to fly you around????? thats why they call passengers, "spam in a can", no thanks Dude, but help yourself????? Really??? YOU MEAN YOU really, really , would?????

And really, have you seen the UAV accident rate for "remotely piloted aircraft", it stupid BAD! thats not a good idea even with outstanding hardware, pilots do lots more in flite than just point the aircraft in a proper direction. Brat

short answer NO!

maybe and that's a BIG MAYBE if the UAV is specially designed to carry cargo to a green zone OR just transportation of goods from point A to B a UAV can potentially fill that role BUT no way would any sane country put the lives of 100 or more paratroopers on the hands of a 'pilot' flying it from 1000 miles away especially if it's going into harms way.

Maybe not carrying living, breathing people, but what about for missions like the airdrop behind Berlin wall?

how? it has to be a very very advance UAV that is not technologically feasible today... airdropping cargo like the Berlin airlift etc requires more than just piloting the aircraft. You need the loadmaster, the other folks that needs to unsecure the ropes prep the containers etc, open the ramp door and make sure it falls properly and all that. What if something gets caught or something goes wrong? How would you mitigate that if no one is on board?
It would not be possible to do it w/o humans inside doing the offloading and airdropping.

. Of special interest is the fact that the chief engineer mentioned the use of 3D printing in the construction of Y-20. Additionally, the Y-20 follows the latest trend by using curved windshields. Being able to manufacture such windshields is itself a technological achievement.
