China in Panama Canal

Now, I've just watch Trump speech about the Panama Canal, and his promise to take back Panama Canal for the United States again. But then inside that speech, I see that Trump mentioned China as the one who control the canal. So, I can see a potential conflict here, and decide to discuss about this matter in here. My concern is how China will do to handle this problem. Will they relinquish their control of Panama Control for the United States, or they will do something to thwart Trump's strategy.

Let's discuss.

Haha, Yes I expect China to fight for control of the Panama Canal and stand with the freedom of Panamaian people.

Okay Jokes aside, we all know China is the big bogeyman in the US these days and any action no matter how extreme can be justified by invoking the China threat. US essentially invading Panama will have huge implications on the world.

But I doubt US will do something like that. What will most likely happen is US will heavily pressure Panam until some kind of new deal with Panama is made to prevent any kind of Chinese funding or companies operating in the Panama Canal. There could also be a US base or something like that in the Panama Canal as well.
