After seen an image on bilibili (1st image, I think it is not fake), I checked posted images which can also found in this thread (image 2-4, you need to really zoom in to check the details), and I believe that J36 has leading edge flaps that use same flexible skin hinge as the other contol surfaces. If it is real then it might shows the top inlet and the aircraft itself can work in a higher angle of attack than we expected? the 4th image shows the thiny slots when the leading edge flaps is retracted

I think you meant slats, which are the control surfaces on the leading edges.

The top inlet shouldn’t be an issue since it’s only feeding air to the middle engine. A choke condition for the top inlet doesn’t mean the plane will lose power.

Probably, but at least it still shows the aircraft is expected to do some interesting things, consider it has LERX already

I am 90% sure the entire flight control theory for this design is configured around vortex management and over body pressure distributions.

I mean, the assumption that J-36 does not have high alpha manoeuvring requirements is entirely based on assumptions from last gen technology. The fact that it has 2 caret intake on the bottom when it could have 3 DSI intake on top, already shows it does infact have high alpha requirements.

Indeed. IMO China will use early-version J-36 as a kind of VLO bomber, bcz China is lack of a stealth air strike platform for long. J-20's payload is too small in stealth mode, meanwhile H-6X series aren't stealth. And it's too long to wait for H-20 (maybe already cancelled?).

Btw, who's the 52nd state?

Only when fighting U.S.-level armies is there a need to use VLO bombers - but simply using the J36 as a bomber will not help win the game.
If the opponent is not the US military, the J20 can easily pry open the defense system of any country with the Attack 11, and then the J16 can carry the Wing Loong 2 for target practice.
Apparently Greenland will get the title of the 52nd state.

A YT comment stupidly said the top inlet was designed to kill the pilots because it made ejection impossible(?) by sucking them into the engine inlet??? Hopium,dopium,copium to the max-like I said before,the timing of all these J36 flights isn't a coincidence-the USAAF puts out an artist rendering /PPT drawing of proposed ("nothing like it,superior to anything that flies)F47-China's 36 is showing dumping fuel,landing/maneuvering,showing features etc-hahaha

The argument that it is a bomber all boils down to the fact that it is much larger and heavier than current 5th or 4th gen aircraft. This does not take into account the fact that F-35 is in the same ballpark weight wise as a F-15C, and an F-15C is in the same ballpark weight wise as a B-17. Yet no one called those bombers. The cope to diss CHAD as a bomber is getting old at this point.

Content over form, call it a bomber, fighter-bomber, reconnaissance fighter or whatever at any time. But it's unlikely to make your opponent feel better or worse.

With so many exciting photos and information emerging these days, why should we waste time discussing a "J36 bomber".
