I'd like to see pictures and information about China's decontamination forces and their equipment. I haven't been able to find any information so help me out.

Good call,

Thank you. I havent seen anything as such too. I mean, despite all claims PLA equipment having NBC protection, never seen too many exercises of it.

I have one issue of what PLA soldiers would get as NBC cover. I mean, NATO troops in exercises have pretty modern stuff, full suit, masks, etc, and performing regular combat duties in these suits as well.

Wonder how PLA would cope in such conditions? For starters, the masks they use seem only suitable for smoke conditions, not really full chemical, and they are the old soviet type of masks that look phoney and stupid compared to what the West has.

Here's some pages on the gas masks they have:

(look under China for this one)

While there are some masks intended only for tear gas, those are only used by MPs (and even then, they usually just issue CS filters instead of NBC filters).

The looks of the mask don't mean much. As long as there is a good face seal, and you have a fresh NBC filter, then even old gas masks can still be used. In fact, the primary difference between newer masks compared to older ones is that they have a second silicon rubber skin on the inside to improve comfort, and provisions for drinking.

And besides, as you can see in the links, China is introducing her own modern masks, so I don't think there's a problem in the gas mask depertment.

Hehe any amatuer in medicine can pick out the errors in the NBC suits of that excrises
1. If it was a biological attack all those soldier or policeman would be dead.
2. Why? Look closely at the gloves and boots, typically when you are dressed in a full gear and have oxygen tanks, the spores of chemical or spore of a virus is pretty power.
3. Enough power to enter through the small holes between the boots and gloves that are NOT part of the suit.
4. It's not a one part suit, so they need to duck tape the gloves closely and tightly to together, the same if for the boots and pants.
5. It's probably a chemical attack drill?

Well we were issued a rainsuite which also alledgely should work as a NBC suite as well. So we often (too often) had to train to get the suite and the "nasse" eg. gasmask on under 1 minute...and you can imagine how nice that is with bare fingers at -25-30 degrees..Anyway, I always doupted that the suites would actually work...exspecially when my brother told me that as they were incharge of the chemical recce in our battalion, as soon as the indicators would show gass comming...they would ran like hell and not spend even a seccond to the spot...

Sorry for the new guy to burst your bubble but spores, viruses do not work that way. they are delivered in an agent and I would be hard pressed to find it entering the suit.

Even if a spore or virus enters the suit it would have almsot no possibility of entering the host as all the cells the microbe would come into contact with are dead. Skin contact viruses are unheard of. Th eonly real weakpoint in your natural defences are the eyes, nose, broken skin, and mouth... only places on our body where live cells are exposed to the enviroment, hence microbial vectors can establish themselves.

I'm a biomedical engineer I deal with this type of stuff.

I'm guessing but most modern one piece suits are for the ease of putting them on in an emergency... imagine trying to don a tux while holding your breath...the thickness of the suit would be just for chemical attack as that can harm you at the level of your skin.
