What is the best way for the US to ease the reunification without loosing face?

An outright military invasion by China would be US loosing face, just like Saddams invasion of Kuwait was. So US will respond. Depending on circumstances Vietnam syndrom may or may not be a major factor.

So how do you think the US should procede. And also china

PS: please do not respond civil war, no right yata yata yata, from the chinese perspective that is perfectly correct. But from the US protecting its worlds standing it is only a cultural understanding which needs to be taken into account with many other factors.

Well it could follow the same policy it used in the case of the Phillipines

The United States and Spain became involved in the Spanish-American war in 1898. Aguinaldo was then lured back to the Philippines with a supposed promise of independence similar to Cuba, which was fighting a war of independence. Thus, on June 12, 1898, with victory seemingly attainable, Aguinaldo declared the independence of the Philippines in Kawit, Cavite. However, the Battle for Manila between Spain and the US turned out to be a farce which sought to exclude the Filipinos from the eventual occupation of Manila. Spain and the US ignored the Filipino representative, Felipe Agoncillo, during their negotiations in the Treaty of Paris. Spain was forced in the negotiations to hand over Guam, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico to the US in exchange for US$20,000,000.00, which the US later claimed to be a gift to Spain. The first Philippine Republic rebelled against the US occupation resulting in the Philippine-American War (1899-1913). It came under US control and in 1935, its status was upgraded to US Commonwealth. Independence for the Philippines was finally granted on July 4, 1946, after Japan invaded and occupied the islands during World War II.

why would US lose face when we take taiwan back? china is not iraq, and US didn't like...lose face when saddam invaded kuwait. like....i just don't see anything about losing face for US when saddam invaded kuwait. there are wars going on every day, do US loses face for each one of them? and even there will be war, i don't think US will respond, they would just throw out some words from white house and that would it.
there was this movie, called "hai ying", in english "sea eagle",which totally shows the US' face. it's a movie about chinese PT boats taken on GMD's gun boat, and it's supposed to be about "8.6" battle. where PLAN PT boats sunk GMD's gun boat. so in the movie, GMD's transport had US Navy destroyers' escort, and when PLAN aiming at the column, ready to fire and closing in fast. this US captain said, "GO! light the signal, tell them we are US ships, we are out of there!"
that's US, totally US, they only do the business when there is a profit, why would they comein something they will have not only the profit, and they would put in another of cost? it's not a good business, i could tell you.
