Though it doesn't have to be L band, most radars with that shape/size ratio of antenna ARE L band radars. If it, indeed, is a L band radar then it should, coupled with decent modern hardware and software supporting the antenna, be able to do a better job against low RCS targets than most other air surveillance radars.

Well, they didn't say much on that articles except saying the Navy is getting a bunch of new anti-stealth radar.

I am no expert but Judging by shape of that, they seem like some kind bistatic passive radar similar to Czech's which China was trying to acquire few yrs agao.

Thanks lilzz..

No slight to China but it seems curious to me that since the F-22 is in full service we are seeing equipment that can defeat it. Including aircraft..curious. How do the test this radar when they don't have a 5th generation aircraft themselves??

Release a sparrow in the air. If they can detect it and lock from about 80km away it should work with F-22 as well. :D

Just increase sensitivity? It's not like they need the exact RCS of the F-22 or B-2; just being able to track and lock on to a small signature.

I think it involves more than just being able to detect small signatures. How many sparrows size objects are there in a 80 Km radius?
